Updated Mitigation Guidance – July 2023

The Colorado Board of Health updated the Mitigation Guidance for Nursing Facilities and Assisted Living communities.

Updates include new infection prevention requirements for health care facilities that became effective June 14, 2023. The Nursing Home and Intermediate Care Facility Mitigation and Outbreak Guidance and Assisted Living Residences and Group Home Mitigation and Outbreak Guidance have been updated to reflect those changes.

Highlights of some of the updated content include:

• Removed links to the respiratory protection toolkit and slide presentation and replaced with the link to CDPHE’s Respiratory Protection Program webpage.
• Removed the reporting requirement for EMResource.
• Updated the vaccination and treatment section to align with the updated chapter 2 requirements to complete a facility-level infection risk assessment and infection prevention annual plan.
• Resources are included on CDPHE’s newly created infection risk assessment and infection prevention annual plan webpage.
• Vaccination resources can be found within the vaccine clinic toolkit for long-term care facilities online resource.
