Survey ALERT – New Infection Risk Assessment and Annual Plan

CDPHE has made available a new Infection Risk Assessment and IP Annual Plan tool. Use of this tool is not mandated, but highly encouraged.

This is a state-level chapter 2 requirement for all residential care facilities, including Assisted Living Communities.  It is also a Federal requirement for Skilled Nursing Facilities under F880.

Jo Tansey, Acute and Nursing Facilities Branch Chief, answered the question regarding when facilities will start to be surveyed for the infectious disease mitigation and control plan in the new Chapter 2 requirements:

Nursing facilities will begin surveying to this requirement on 1/1/24. There is a current federal (CMS) requirement to have this assessment and plan in place under F880. We will accept the same plan for both requirements and the template presented on the July 19, 2023 LTCF call would meet both federal and state requirements.
