Ending F885 and F888

CMS has confirmed that the requirement to notify all residents and their representatives about COVID-19 cases (F885) ended Monday, May 1, 2023, when the QSO 23-13-ALL Memo was issued.

Facilities are no longer required to notify all residents and their representatives when there is a positive case in the facility, or if there have been three or more residents with respiratory symptoms. Notification of changes in condition for residents will still apply as referenced in F580, Notification of Changes.

CMS will soon end the interim final rule requiring all healthcare staff to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. CMS has stated more detail will be shared regarding the end of this requirement (F888) at the anticipated end of the public health emergency, which is May 11, 2023.
