Nursing Home Administrator – Veterans Community Living Center at Fitzsimons

This position exists to assume overall responsibility for the successful operation of the VCLC by directly supervising all facility departments and department managers. The Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) ensures that all facility practices and procedures meet federal, state and VA regulatory requirements as defined by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (Medicaid) the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). In addition to nursing home administration, the Nursing Home Administrator sets the culture and leads with transparency and focus on excellence.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Special Qualifications:

Must possess and maintain a current and valid Nursing Home Administrator’s license.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in human services, health care, health care administration, business, or a related field,

Six (6) years of professional experience in long term care administrative role.

Substitutions:

Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Developed philosophy of person-centered care
Experience working with diverse stakeholders and complex organizations
Proficiency with Point Click Care (PCC)
Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills

Conditions of Employment:
Must be willing to submit to a background check
Must possess current BLS for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association
Must be willing to test for Tuberculosis (TB) test.
This position is required to have transportation and to attend required events statewide.
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.

On or after October 31, 2021, each facility shall ensure all newly hired employees, direct contractors, or support staff members are fully vaccinated at the time of hire, or receive their first dose of a two-dose protocol, or a single-dose vaccination, prior to providing any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its clients.

Appeal Rights:
