Become a Certified Nurse Aide
>
Discover yourself and unlock your inner resources!
If you want to work with motivated and caring people and if you want to care for
people who truly need your help, explore the possibilities of a career in the Long
Term Health Care Continuum. Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) provide the majority of
direct care to residents in nursing homes and other health care settings. CNAs must
be certified by the Colorado Board of Nursing.
Where do I begin?
To become certified, you must take and successfully complete specific courses that
will teach you valuable skills in communication, infection control, resident rights,
emergency procedures and how to promote rights and independence for the people you
care for. It may be a good idea to visit a nursing home or health care facility
in your area, but be sure to call ahead of time. Explain that you are interested
in becoming a CNA and would like to visit their facility.
