Services

Government Services. The Association provides an effective liaison with the Colorado Legislature, the United States Congress, and state and national governmental agencies. Legislative updates are made available to inform members of the status of bills and any other key issues concerning long-term care.

Education. Through a continuing education program, the Association conducts seminars and workshops to help nursing home personnel enhance professional standards. Special interest seminars are targeted to the various disciplines within the long-term care profession.

Convention. The annual CHCA Convention offers educational seminars for all disciplines, given by outstanding experts in the field of long-term care. Exhibits of products and services for improving health care facility operations are an integral part of the Convention. This special event also enables members to actively participate in Association business and to socialize with their colleagues from around the state.

Information Resources. CHCA acts as a clearinghouse for information concerning the long-term care profession. The Association staff works to keep apprised of the latest events, policies and precedents set by the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing, the Department of Public Health & Environment, the Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators and other agencies. This information is shared with the membership through the bi-weekly E-Communicator newsletter, legislative updates, timely email communications, web updates and position papers.

Public Relations. CHCA works to educate the public on the various aspects of long-term care. Past efforts have included the development of an image campaign and implementation of a long term care profession recruitment initiative. In addition to on-going activities throughout the year, CHCA also promotes National Nursing Home Week through the use of public service announcements, newspaper articles and communication in the e-Communicator newsletter.
