Arlene Miles

Arlene Miles is President & CEO of the Colorado Health Care Association. She has held the position since 1983. In addition to her position as President & CEO, she is a licensed nursing home administrator and has worked in long term care since 1972. She is a registered lobbyist in the State of Colorado and has a background in accounting with an emphasis on Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement. She is a past president of the American Society of Health Care Association Executives and served on the American Health Care Association Executive Committee. In addition, she has served on numerous legislative and governor appointed committees. amiles@cohca.org

 

 



 

    Vice President
     of Operations

      Bonita Jones

Bonita Jones joined the CoHCA staff in January, 1990. Prior to her position as VP of Operations, Bonita served as Office Manager and support staff to the Director of Program Administration. In her position, Bonita is responsible for planning CoHCA’s ongoing educational programs, the CoHCA annual convention, and supervises the Administrative Services Department and assisted living. She came to CoHCA from Briarwood Health Care and has worked in long term care since 1980. Bonita graduated from Denver Technical College and Emily Griffith where she obtained an associate’s degree in Business Communication.

  Associate Director

    of LTC Services

       Ann Kokish

 

Ann Kokish brings more than 23 years of diversified experience in long term care to CHCA/CCAL. A successful Nursing Home Administrator she has managed a 198-bed facility, including a 44-bed secured unit and 50-bed sub-acute unit. She has supervised and supported approximately 300 staff members with 15 department heads. She brings to CHCA/CCAL an extensive knowledge of Federal and State Regulations, Medicare and insurance regulations.

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

  Director of Finance

         Brent Hill

Brent Hill joined the CoHCA team in April, 2008 as Director of Finance. Immediately prior to joining CoHCA,  Brent was a staff accountant for Myers and Stauffer. In that position, he performed Medicaid cost report field audits, desk reviews and analytical reviews. Brent graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and is currently a CPA candidate.  bhill@cohca.org

 

 

 

 


 


 

  Director of Clinical
  & Quality Services

  Paula Mattison, R.N.

Paula Mattison is the Director of Clinical and Quality Services at CoHCA. In this position, she is responsible for monitoring state and federal regulations that affect nursing services and informing the membership. She is also responsible for developing educational programs for nurses and CNAs. She staffs the Nurse Executive Council, the Social Services Conference Group and the Quality Initiatives & Standards Committee. She is a registered nurse and holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management from Metropolitan State College in Denver. Prior to joining CoHCA in February, 1994, she spent five years in long term care management, specializing in staff education. She was a staff development coordinator, a regional training coordinator and primary instructor for the CNA program, involving 10 facilities and teaching over 75 classes. She has worked in the nursing field since 1975. pmattison@cohca.org

 


 

  Vice President of
  Public Relations &
  Emergency Management

      David Skipper

David brings over thirty years of creative communications management, leadership development, emergency preparedness, government training and public speaking experience to the Association, including seven years as Director of Communications for the Florida Health Care Association. He served as President of the Society of Long Term Care Communicators from 1994-96. As a certified PREPARE Specialist he is also responsible for emergency management and disaster preparedness.  His experience includes developing training and instructing on Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Threat AWareness, Clinical Implications of Weapons of Mass Destruction, Hostage Negotians, Incident Command and more.  He revised the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Emergency Operations Plan Toolkits for long term care facilities in 2012.  He is also responsible for developing and implementing innovative information solutions encompassing media management, cyber-communications and publications management. He has an M.A. and B.A. degree in Communication Arts from the University of West Florida. dskipper@cohca.org

 Governmental Affairs

        Natalie Komp

 

Natalie monitors all regulatory affairs for CoHCA ensuring that the goals and mission of the Association are represented in state government. She develops comments on proposed regulations that affect the long term care community, as well as assists in the management of the Health Department Disaster Preparedness Grant. Natalie earned her BA in Communications from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She continued her education at Mississippi College School of Law and graduated with her JD in 2011. While in law school, Natalie worked under Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann in the Elections Division. There, she monitored statewide elections, legislative activities and relevant law that impacted voting throughout the state. Natalie also interned with the Mississippi Department of Mental Health where she oversaw Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity appeals, inter-agency employment termination disputes and legislative activitiesnkomp@cohca.org

   Donna Hepworth

Donna combines her art layout skills and 15 years experience as an Administrative Assistant to support the mission of CoHCA. In 2004, she graduated from Utah Career College in Graphic Design. Prior to her employment with CoHCA, Donna worked for Qwest/US West for 11 years. Donna is responsible for the graphic design and web support including educational, Spring Conference and Fall Convention brochures and the CoHCA Resource Directory. dhepworth@cohca.org

 Administrative Assistant

       Nichole Ybarra

Nichole Ybarra brings over 10 years experience in the customer and guest services field. Her bright personality and professionalism is a great addition to the CoHCA team. Nichole’s positive energy and organizational abilities have also been dedicated to the long term care community, having worked in the business office of Alpine Living Center, where she assisted families and residents with the Medicare application process. It will usually be Nichole’s cheerful voice that greets you when you call CoHCA.

  Contract Lobbyist     

     John T. Kunkle

John serves as contract lobbyist for the Association.He has worked with the legislature and state government for the past ten years.
